In an interview, one of the organisers, Sevelina Sambakusi, said the money needed for treatment and transport is K5 million.

“We urge people to support raising the money by contributing a minimum of K2 000 to save the life of the child,” she said.

Sambakusi also said they will explore other avenues of raising the money.

Mike Joseph Soko, the father’s child who resides in Mtandire Township, said the child started experiencing the problem six months after he was born.

He said: “After Joseph was born, he would get ill frequently and when we took him to Bwaila Hospital, they told us that he has an infection or malaria.

“But when we went to Kamuzu Central Hospital, he was scanned and we were told that his heart has a hole.”

Soko said well-wishers can donate the money through National Bank account 1001711195 or Airtel money 0999332233.
